Getting started!

Below is a complete list of all automotive products I purchased to complete this headlight restoration guide. I strongly recommend using these products because I cannot guarantee the finished product will look similar to mine. As long as you use similar products you should be fine.

Here is the list of headlight restoration products:

*Meguiars PlastX clear plastic cleaner and polish
*1000 grit, 1500 grit, and 2000 grit sandpaper
*Terry cloth or orbital bonnet or microfiber cloth
*Orbital Buffer
*Dishwasher detergent
*Some sort of Sealant Zaino or Z2 pro (I just used meguiars carnauba paste wax temporarily)
*Bottle of water

You can get all this from your auto body parts store or a detailer. I picked these up from Walmart and Canadian tire

Lets begin!

Step 1: Remove your headlights for ease of operation. If this isn't an option just work around your bumper

Step 2: Take your 1000 grit sandpaper and bottled water and start lightly sanding the surface of the headlight while sprinkling water over top (wetsand) do this until you feel all roughness disappear. I sanded for about 5 minutes.

Step 3: After using 1000 grit move onto 1500 and then 2000 following step 2.

Step 4: Once you have finished sanding with 2000 grit. Take your microfiber or terry cloth and clean off any residue left on the headlights.

Step 5: Apply a small amount of Meguairs PlastX to the headlight, with your finger, apply it around the entire surface.

Step 6: Get your orbital buffer out and start buffing away with a terry bonnet or microfiber. Buff until the plastX polish is no longer visble on the headlights

For best results Do step 5 and 6 twice.

Step 7: Get out your dishwasher detergent and clean your headlights (this strips away any oils or grease)

Step 8: If you cant get your hands on Zaino or Z2 pro sealants you can use caranuba paste wax (I used meguairs gold class)

Apply a small amount to your headlights entire surface and rub it in with your terry bonnet or microfiber cloth. After a few seconds your headlights will become clear again. Do this step twice.

Your done. Your headlights will now be clear of haze and oxidation. Your light output is now noticably improved.
